Faculty Positions and Master Academic Plan (MAP): 1.1 & 5.2
Since Spring 2015, five “new” faculty positions have been added to the CSC workforce. As described in the August VPAA Update, CSC added three faculty positions in disciplines within each school that support the Essential Studies Program (ESP). Two of these positions are tenure-track and the other is a one-year appointment for AY 2015- 2016. These positions were supported by the College President and cabinet members. As I expressed in the August VPAA Update, we hope to transform the one-year faculty position into a permanent tenure-track position.
With the support of the President, Cabinet members, and Deans, three “additional” tenure-track faculty positions have been approved. One faculty position is designated for the ESP/Rangeland. This makes all three ESP faculty positions tenure track. This fulfills MAP 1.1.
As delineated in MAP 5.2, three full-time tenure-track positions were identified to support Graduate Studies programs. The Deans met with Chairs overseeing graduate programs and documentation supporting addition of a faculty member for each graduate program was gathered. In turn, I met with Chairs of programs offering graduate programs to discuss allocation of new (not existing) faculty
positions. The two tenure track faculty positions will be focused in the Counseling and Education programs. As before I will continue to pursue the sixth new faculty tenure-track position.
Please thank the President, Cabinet members, Deans, Chairs, and Department MAP representatives (who prepared the MAP). Without their efforts this would not be possible.
