Dear Faculty and Staff:
As Seneca observed, every new beginning comes from some beginning’s end. This observation is especially appropriate for CSC with the culmination of the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Comprehensive Evaluation. As we are at the beginning of a new Academic Year, creating learning experiences, and preparing for the HLC 2020-21 Assurance Review, CSC has opportunities to continue our positive progress.
With the stellar outcome of the Comprehensive Evaluation CSC has the option to choose one of three pathways. CSC will remain on the Open Pathway. This provides CSC with the most flexibility, affords the opportunity to pursue improvement projects, and conveys that CSC is not under notice (or sanction) and has no pending focus visit.
In 2020-21 CSC will need to complete an Assurance Review. This will be to demonstrate CSC is meeting HLC’s Criteria for Accreditation. A Peer Review Team will evaluate the materials and recommend whether CSC should continue in the cycle or whether monitoring is necessary. HLC’s Institutional Actions Council (IAC) reviews the report and takes action on the recommendation.
The HLC Peer Review Team report was attached to the 10 August 2017 VPAA Update. This report will be a key component of the All-Campus faculty and staff meeting, 18 August 2017, 8:00 am.
