The following staff vacancies have been filled:
- Robert Pace, Accompanist
Current Searches: 2 OAII, 1 Project Coordinator, 1 IT Specialist, and 3 faculty positions.
Interviews for the Project Coordinator are being held this week, and interviews for the IT Specialist position will be held after Labor Day. Because the IT Specialist in the Teaching & Learning Center administers CSC’s learning management system (Sakai) and provides a wide variety of instructional technology support, faculty will be invited to attend candidate presentations during the campus interviews, meet the candidates, review their resumes, and provide feedback to the search committee. Please look for the presentation and feedback invitations in your email in-boxes by Friday, 4 September.
11 September: First call for Research Institute proposals due to Paula Perlinski (email@example.com).

Library Learning Commons
The LLC is excited about its Graves Lecture line-up this fall. Talks by Josh Ellis, Steve Coughlin, Shaunda French, and Peggy Hinman will deliver on a range of topics, including health, nutrition, and work-life balance. For more information and the lecture dates and locations, see: http://academic.csc.edu/llc/blog/?page_id=50. In the vein of healthier lifestyles, the LLC will also host free, secular meditation sessions during the month of September. Retired faculty member John Parton will lead these sessions and introduce the CSC community to techniques for focusing the mind and relaxing the body. Sessions begin on 8 September, and meet in LLC 111 from 4 to 4:45 pm every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday through the end of the month.
Teaching & Learning Center
The TLC kicked off its New Faculty Orientation (NFO) Program (formerly Jumpstart) on 20 August with nine new faculty members and a new facilitator, Dr. Tracy Nobiling. Also new is the New Faculty Orientation website and blog, which may prove an excellent resource for not-so-new faculty in need of “refreshers” on topics such as faculty travel policies, MAP planning, accessibility, copyright, FERPA, LLC databases, the Learning Center, Transitional Studies, Project Strive-TRIO, counseling, grade submission, Turnitin, assessment, and the PAR. For more information about the NFO Program and its scheduled meetings, visit: http://academic.csc.edu/nfo/ or contact Tracy at email@example.com.
Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Reaffirmation
The HLC Comprehensive Visit is scheduled for 24-25 April 2017. The HLC reaffirmation process has been completely revamped. It is no longer a Self-Study; instead, it is a series of highly structured requirements that include the following:

- Submission of a Federal Compliance Report
- Submission of Quality Initiative Report
- Evidence and Demonstration of Assumed Practices Standards
- Evidence and Demonstration of State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements Standards.
