Welcome back! As you can see, the format of my updates has changed a little—to include CSC’s Mission Statement and the six MAP Priorities in the Master Academic Plan. My goal is to keep everyone mindful of our goals and to post regular updates so that you are aware of our accomplishments.
Over the summer, a new faculty space has evolved in the “garden level” location of the Old Administration Building. ADM 030 is the official location of the Teaching & Learning Center’s Faculty Multiuse Room.
The room (pictured below) is designed for a variety of uses—workshops, seminars, webinars, small group collaboration, meetings, lunch-and-learns, new media development, emerging technology experimentation, and, more simply, functions as a quiet spot to read, browse the Web, or otherwise gather one’s wits. To date, the room features a kitchenette (refrigerator, counter space, and sink), movable tables and chairs, and three 65-inch touch-enabled computer displays. Very soon, the room will be outfitted with comfortable soft seating and torchiere lighting, as well as a stand-up workstation that is intended to facilitate one-on-one collaborations or solo projects.
In preparing for the academic year 2015-2016, I’m sending this update prior to the start of the semester. Please note that two very important documents were emailed to you on 4 August, entitled: Events Prior to the First Week of Fall 2015 Classes (17-21 August) and Opening Day (21 August). Please be sure to read through these in order to prepare and otherwise plan your time.
