The CSC Faculty Senate is the body by which the faculty is authorized to share in planning and governance of the college. “The basic philosophical principle of this Constitution is that Chadron State College…is a self-governing community of scholars in which faculty, administration, and students all have legitimate and meaningful roles to play in the achievement of their common goals” (CSC Constitution of the Faculty Senate).
I, for one, am pleased to work at a college that advocates the practice of shared governance and where the faculty perspective is considered prior to decision making on all important governance issues. However, ensuring that faculty have a voice in the decision-making process and a role in shaping policy requires faculty to do more than simply support the notion.
If you feel this is your time to contribute to shared governance by serving on one of the many Faculty Senate standing committees discussed by President Brust and Vice President Hunn, please throw your name in the hat during the school elections which will be held on Thursday, April 21st at 11:00 am in your respective School meetings.
