In 2015 the Library Learning Commons will work with Baker and Taylor, a book wholesaler, to create a rotating library collection through one of the company’s leasing plans. With the help of a small committee made up of CSC faculty and staff who represent various departments across campus, the LLC will order titles that support CSC curricula.
These titles will be regularly evaluated by the LLC and the buyers’ committee; if the titles are not utilized, they will be returned and replaced (“rotated”) with a new title or possibly kept for the library’s permanent collection.
The leasing program limits the LLC to 360 rotating titles. Our goal is to have 150 to 180 titles on the shelves at any one time while adding 20 to 30 titles per month.
Books from the rotating collection will be located near the coffee shop where the Teaching and Learning Center collection and the board games are currently shelved. Books will circulate to students, faculty, and staff on a two-week check-out schedule.
New titles will be announced via the LLC Blog and bi-monthly newsletter, The Commoner; however, one of the best ways to review the new titles is to visit the LLC every month or so in 2015—so you don’t miss anything!
