In Spring 2015, CSC faculty will have access to TurnItIn, a suite of web applications designed to assist with the evaluation of written assignments. Faculty who work with Sakai should find TurnItIn particularly easy to access, as it will be integrated with CSC’s learning management system (LMS) via the Assignments tool.
To use TurnItIn, instructors need only check the Use TurnItIn checkbox, which appears under the under the Assignment Instructions in Sakai’s Assignments tool.
In addition to plagiarism detection, the tool suite supports and facilitates peer reviews, rubric-based grading, automated commenting, and voice feedback. Instructors who teach writing or writing-intensive courses may be keen to know that TurnItIn has recently acquired LightSide’s Revision Assistant and has plans to upgrade and integrate the application into its tool suite.
