Over the past three years, the Library Learning Commons (LLC) has undergone significant changes which necessitated the need for accurate floor plans and office signage. After the floor plans were updated and approved, new signage was ordered and subsequently installed in the LLC.
New departments that relocated to the LLC include:
- The IT Help Desk
- Career and Academic Services
- Transitional Studies
- The Learning Center
- Project Strive TRiO
- Bookends (the coffee shop)
Directional signage has been posted in the atrium, main level, and upper level of the LLC. The signs direct where the new departments are located and also where to access traditional library services (e.g., periodicals, ready reference, the legal studies collection, music scores, biographies, fiction, curriculum, etc.). Staff office numbers have also been updated and are consistent with the current floor plan.
Pillars are scattered throughout the main and upper level of the library. Prior to the signage project, random signs and policies were scotch taped on the pillars. Window signs were created for this type of information and installed on the pillars.
The new signage is attractive and has certainly simplified locating offices and departments housed in the Library Learning Commons. We would like to personally thank the maintenance crew for assisting us in completing this project.
