The LLC is excited to welcome a new staff member this semester. Cindy Hill began working at the LLC in late-February, and she is settling in nicely. She is in charge of night reference and circulation duties for the LLC.
Cindy graduated from Chadron State College, with a double-major in English and Library Media. After graduation, she started as a high school English teacher. After about five years, she decided to return to CSC to get her elementary endorsement, and she spent the remainder of her teaching career in K-6. She taught exclusively in the South Dakota school system, teaching in Oelrichs and on the Pine Ridge Reservation. This past May, Cindy retired after this fulfilling career in the K-12 environment. Cindy notes that the hardest part of retiring was saying goodbye to all the wonderful kids.
This part-time position in the LLC appealed to Cindy because she likes being around books and she enjoys helping people. She was also excited to use the library skills she learned during her coursework at CSC. She is enjoying seeing familiar faces from her time on campus, as well as seeing friends and neighbors in a new environment.
Cindy is a cancer survivor, which has greatly affected her perspective on life. She is an optimistic person and tries to find the good in everything. Cindy’s favorite hobby is spending time with her 7 grandkids and 1 great-grandkid. She also greatly enjoys riding through the Black Hills with her husband on their Harley.
