The Career Services Department provides Chadron State College students and alumni with a variety of services both during and after their tenure as a college student. Some of the primary services they offer include:
- Career and Degree Major Exploration
- Resume and Interviewing Tips
- Teacher Interview Days
- Career Fairs
- Credential Management
In addition, the Career Services Department facilitates internship opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students. Internships are essentially on-the-job training in a field that the student wants to learn more about and potentially pursue as a career; they can be paid or unpaid internships, depending on the company. Career Services Director, Deena Kennell, assists students in locating a work site that interests the students and also satisfies the internship requirements. According to Kennell, an average of 60-80 students are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate internships during the academic year.
Janet Hartman, Career Services Office Assistant, also assists the students by maintaining the credential files and posting job opportunities such as:
- Employment Vacancy Notices (Teaching and Non-Teaching)
- Educational Announcements
- Seasonal Vacancies
- Federal, State and Local Government Jobs and Information
The Career Services office is located in Room 200.1 on the main level of the Library Learning Commons and the normal office hours are Monday-Friday 7:30AM – 4:30PM.
