You may have noticed a new look to the “Search Journal Titles” page. “Search Journal Titles” now directs users to EBSCO’s new Full Text Finder. Full Text Finder searches Chadron State’s journal and eBook subscriptions. Like the old page, search results will direct you to the publication’s webpage where content can be browsed and/or downloaded.
A major feature of Full Text Finder is the ability to browse publications by discipline. Discipline-specific resources are populated below Full Text Finder’s search box. When browsing by discipline you are provided with an alphabetical title list. Within the title list you can refine results to locate titles that focus on a particular area within that discipline. For example, when browsing “Sociology,” you are returned with an alphabetical list of 897 titles:
From here, you can define the exact type of content found within the publication in the left panel under “Subject,” the format of the publication under “Resource Type,” or the content publisher under “Publisher.” Each option provides additional filters to refine results. Continuing with the “Sociology” example, refining our search by “Subject” lets us get more specific with our research interest. Each time we filter by “Subject,” we receive even more precise topics within the discipline:
Full Text Finder also features a search box that supports searches for publication title, subject, and ISSN/ISBN. Keyword searching is also available, but the service will only return results with your keyword in the publication’s title. Advanced search features available in Full Text Finder include predictive searching and auto-complete. Search results are ranked by popularity, relevance, and quality of content to more efficiently connect you to the best possible research materials. As with browsing by discipline, users can refine their results by “Subject,” “Resource Type,” and “Publisher”:
