In addition to providing library services, the LLC hosts a variety of services to facilitate student success. One of the services offered is Project Strive / TRiO. Project Strive / TRiO is a student support service program designed to provide academic support services to eligible students. A student may be eligible if he or she is a legal resident of the United States, is a first-generation student, meets the limited-income criteria established by the US Department of Health & Human Services, or has a documented disability.
The Project Strive / TRiO staff includes the Director, Jennifer Schaer; a Licensed Counselor, Sonja Dressel; a Retention Specialist, Amanda Lewin; and an Academic Advisor, Katy Kuhnel. Their offices are located on the lower level of the LLC. According to Schaer, Project Strive students have a place to come where they feel comfortable and supported – similar to a “home away from home” atmosphere. Many Project Strive / TRiO students have indicated that they wouldn’t have graduated if it wasn’t for this program.
Services offered include:
- Individual academic advising
- Graduation planning
- Career exploration
- Personal counseling
- Cultural, social, and educational events.
Project Strive / TRiO hours are:
- 7:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday- Friday
- Closed weekends
